Z16 Neuronal Amplifier: assembly instruction guide

1. You will receive this box:

Box

2. Open the box:

4. Start plugging in a BNC module on the first slot:

1st module

5. Complete plugging in all the other moduli, reaching the following configuration:

All moduli

7. Take out the D-type connect cables:

8. Set the individual gain of the amplifiers using the DIP-SWITCHES. For each D-type connector is:

switches 1 to 4, 1st row = set gain for 1st BNC, 5 to 8 1st row = set gain for 2nd BNC

switches 1 to 4, 2nd row = set gain for 3rd BNC, 5 to 8 2nd row = set gain for 4th BNC

9. Start connecting the D-type connectors with the 4 BNC connectors coming out:

D-type plug

10. Start connecting the BNC connectors to the moduli:

BNC connectors

11. Complete connecting all the connectors, reaching the following configuration:

Connector configuration

12. Take out the analog power supply: plug it into the mains using the 220V 50/60Hz power cord and turn it on. The batteries will get

recharged.

The 2 red LEDs show the status of the charger: continuos light = charging, fast blinking = almost full, slow blinking = fully charged:

analog power supply

13. Once charged you can disconnect the analog power supply from the mains and connected it to the acquisition system using the

grey DYNER connector. Running the analog part of the system on batteries can effectively reduce the noise coming from the mains:

14. Take out the headstage box:

Headstage

15. Connect the D-type connector of the headstage with the remaining one of the acquisition system:

17. Plug the ground cable (the black cable with the red alligator clamp) in the analog power supply ground screw:

Ground cable

18. The system should look like the following. The red alligator clamp should be connected to a stable ground point

(e.g. to a Faraday's cage containing the all system) :

19. Connect the digital power supply to the mains using the 220V 50/60 Hz power cord and connect the SCREW connector to the

USB bay:

20. Connect the USB-MINI-B connector to the USB bay:

USB mini B

21. Connect the other side of the USB cable to the computer, the overall system shoud look like this:
